Punjab lawmaker stresses communication, honesty, respect and trust when dealing with misunderstandings
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) politician Hina Parvez Butt has used the drama Dar-e-Nijaat to share a message about marriage, urging couples to communicate openly, avoid making decisions in anger and not allow past relationships or mistakes to damage their present.
The Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) shared a video on Instagram discussing how experiences from past relationships can affect future ones, particularly when they surface during a marriage.
“Your past relationships and mistakes can affect you later in life for future relations. When you are in a difficult situation like this, it is better to not act out of anger,” she said, urging people to respond to difficult circumstances with patience rather than anger.
Butt stressed the importance of communication between spouses when misunderstandings arise.
“A husband and wife should properly communicate their misunderstandings and fix the problem,” she said, adding that the past should not be allowed to overshadow a new relationship.
“Live in the present. A good marriage is built on respect and trust,” Butt said. “The past cannot define you. You can make your present better.”
In the caption accompanying the video, Butt elaborated on how private aspects of a person’s past can affect a marriage if they come to light.
“After marriage, there may be things from the past, an old relationship, or something personal that you would prefer to keep private. But if such a secret comes to light, it can have an impact on your relationship,” she wrote.
She again cautioned against making decisions in anger and encouraged couples to address difficult revelations through honest communication.
“In such situations, making decisions in anger is not the solution. Husband and wife should talk openly with each other. Instead of hiding things or lying, try to address the matter together. If there is a misunderstanding, resolve it through honest communication.”
Butt’s latest comments come as Dar-e-Nijaat explores the complications that can arise when experiences from the past intersect with a present relationship. Her message centres on communication, honesty, respect and trust as couples navigate such challenges.
