ISLAMABAD:
Hamza Roman and Abubakar Talha won the doubles title at the ITF J60 Nairobi on Saturday, overcoming top-seeded Gyeom Do and Zayyan Virani in a dramatic three-set final, 4-6, 6-3, 11-9.
The victory concluded a successful three-week ITF tour in Nairobi for the Pakistani contingent, which also included teammates Ahtesham Humayun and Zohaib Afzal Malik, guided by coach Mahboob Khan. During the tour, Hamza Roman had previously finished as singles runner-up in the first week and reached the singles semifinals in the second week, alongside a doubles semifinal appearance with Humayun.
Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President of the Pakistan Tennis Federation, congratulated the players for their consistency and competitive spirit, noting that their performances bode well for the upcoming ITF Junior tournaments scheduled in Pakistan in April 2026.
Col. Zia-ud-Din Tufail, Secretary General of the federation, also praised the players and acknowledged the support of sponsors including Bard Foundation, Service Group, Asia Insurance, Nets International, Sialkot Chambers and Ace Tennis Pakistan for facilitating the tour. The leadership further commended coach Mahboob Khan for his dedication and guidance throughout the competition.
