The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday imposed a fine of Rs 20 million on fast bowler Naseem Shah for breaching various clauses of his Central Contract through a social media post.

In a statement issued by the board, the outcomes of the disciplinary committee’s proceedings were revealed, addressing the breaches of both Shah’s Central Contract and the PCB’s Social Media Guidelines.

“The PCB had issued a show-cause notice on March 27 outlining the violations and sought a response from Shah. A personal hearing was then held by a three-member Disciplinary Committee after his reply had been received and reviewed,” the statement read.

The PCB further stated that Shah’s social media adviser had already been terminated and will be blacklisted, preventing them from working with any players under the PCB’s jurisdiction.

The statement added that the board reiterated its commitment to upholding standards of conduct for players and officials, especially concerning their behaviour on social media platforms.
