Bilal Maqsood returns with ‘O’re Saajna’ featuring a muppet twist

Singer Bilal Maqsood has made a return to music with his latest single O’re Saajna, released on Friday. This song arrives with a music video inspired by his children’s puppet show Pakkay Dost. Ahead of the release, Maqsood teased the track on Instagram with a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the video.

Sharing his thoughts, he wrote: “Wanted to start making songs again. Thought I’d begin with one called O’re Saajna. But honestly… didn’t feel like doing the whole acting-shaacting this time. So I figured, why not just become my own muppet instead. O’RE SAAJNA, Coming soon”.

Speaking about the video, Maqsood also highlighted how effectively the muppet version of himself conveyed the emotions of the song.

O’re Saajna is a slow, romantic piece built around the soft acoustic melodies, reminiscent of the signature sound that defined his earlier career.

As part of Strings, Maqsood was known for his timeless love songs including Sar Kiye Yeh Pahar, Sohniyae, Anjaane amongst many more. The new video carries a similar emotional depth, portraying the muppet “BM” reminiscing about a lost love which is a fellow puppet he had to leave behind.

Set against the visuals of the Karachi coastline and city streets, the video blends nostalgia with a distinctly playful aesthetic.

The song also reflects Maqsood’s ongoing love for the Urdu language, which he promotes through his children’s show. With O’re Saajna, he merges both creative worlds; music and Urdu into a single artistic expression.

While many parents on Instagram praised his continued dedication to children’s content, Maqsood clarified that this particular release is also aimed at adults.

The full music video was released on Saturday, marking a heartfelt and creative comeback for the artist.
