Pakistan storm into U18 Asia Cup semis

Pakistan qualifies for the semi-finals after defeating Bangladesh 5-2 in a thrilling contest.

Pakistan will face arch-rivals India in the semi-final on June 5th.

​Kakamigahara, Japan: In an exciting match of the Under-18 Asia Cup 2026—organized by the Asian Hockey Federation and being played from May 29 to June 6 in Kakamigahara, Japan—Pakistan defeated Bangladesh by 5 goals to 2.

​Pakistan opened the scoring early in the game, with Abdullah netting two goals, starting in the 3rd minute. Adeel, Asam, and Yahya chipped in with one goal each. For Bangladesh, Tarikul Islam and Manna Islam scored the goals, Pakistan’s Muhammad Yahya was named the Player of the Match.

​Throughout the game, Pakistan’s forwards capitalized effectively on scoring opportunities, while the midfield and defensive lines maintained firm control for most of the match. With this spectacular victory, Pakistan has asserted its ambitions as a strong contender for the championship trophy.

​President of the Pakistan Hockey Federation Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani congratulated the players and team management on this magnificent achievement, praising the team’s discipline, determination, and performance. He stated that this success is the result of the tireless efforts of the players, coaches, and support staff, who are striving to restore Pakistan hockey’s lost glory on the international stage.

​He added that the junior team’s advancement to the semi-finals is a significant milestone that will further boost the development of junior hockey in the country. The national team will now prepare for the semi-final clash, aiming to maintain their winning momentum and step closer to the final and the championship title.
