PESHAWAR:

In a first for Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), a female police officer has been appointed to the rank of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), stated an official notification issued by the provincial police chief.

Hailing from Swabi district, Ayesha Gul belongs to the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) and has previously served as Additional Inspector General (AIG) Gender Services. She is currently serving in Grade-18 and has recently returned to Pakistan after completing a professional training course abroad.

Gul has been posted as SSP Investigation in Peshawar, the notification issued by the K-P inspector general stated. Her appointment marks a significant milestone for gender representation in the province’s law enforcement sector, which has traditionally been male-dominated.

The K-P Police Department described the move as part of ongoing efforts to promote inclusion and merit-based advancement within the force.
