Deputy Director of the Federal Investigation Agency’s Cyber Crime Wing, National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency, Muhammad Usman, has been abducted from the federal capital, Islamabad. Police have launched an investigation after registering the case.
Rozina Usman, the wife of the abducted officer, lodged a complaint at Shams Colony Police Station regarding her husband’s disappearance.
According to Rozina, her husband was serving as a Deputy Director operations at the NCCIA and was investigating several sensitive cases. Muhammad Usman was residing in Sector H-13, while his wife lived in Lahore. She stated that on October 14, four armed men kidnapped her husband from his home at gunpoint. When she was unable to contact him, she travelled from Lahore to Islamabad and filed the case.
Police said a case of abduction under Section 365 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) has been registered, and investigation has begun. Authorities added that efforts are being made to trace the suspects using their vehicle’s registration number, but so far, the FIA officer has not been located.
Meanwhile, FIA spokesperson Najeeb-ul-Hassan said that the word “sensitive cases” mentioned by the officer’s wife in the FIR appeared intended to make the matter seem more significant. He clarified that Muhammad Usman was leading the Technical Team and also held additional charge of operations.
The Technical Team primarily deals with online forensics and cyber-related investigations, such as cases involving online betting and digital fraud.
One such case involves well-known YouTuber Saadur Rehman, popularly known as Ducky Bhai, who was arrested for allegedly promoting gambling applications through his videos. The case is currently under trial in Lahore.
