The administration of Khanpur Dam has embarked upon a comprehensive initiative to secure the dam’s perimeters and curb unlawful encroachments. As part of this undertaking, barbed wire fencing is being installed around key sections of the dam, with heavy machinery deployed to erect poles at various points.
According to officials, the initiative seeks to safeguard government-owned land and bring an end to long-standing unauthorised occupations and construction within the dam’s vicinity. In the initial phase, poles are being positioned for the fencing; once the wiring is completed, the entire boundary will be fully enclosed.
Informed sources said that despite the installation of fencing, three designated entry and exit gates would be established to facilitate convenient access for visitors and tourists. Security personnel will be stationed at these points to ensure proper regulation and to prevent any unauthorised entry or disorderly behaviour.
Officials further noted that this measure is crucial for preserving the natural beauty and ecological integrity of Khanpur Dam.
