Both sides discussed potential avenues for enhanced economic cooperation, investment
ISLAMABAD:
Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan met the European Union (EU) Ambassador to Pakistan, Raimundas Karoblis, to discuss ongoing cooperation under the GSP Plus framework and explore ways to enhance bilateral trade and investment ties.
According to an official statement issued on Tuesday, the minister appreciated the EU’s continued support under the GSP Plus scheme, which has significantly contributed to Pakistan’s exports and helped in promoting compliance with international conventions. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding human rights, labour standards, and good governance in line with United Nations’ (UN) conventions tied to GSP Plus arrangement.
Both sides discussed potential avenues for enhanced economic cooperation, investment, and the upcoming EU-Pakistan Business Forum. They also reaffirmed their resolve to maintain close collaboration for mutual economic growth and sustainable development. Last month, the EU envoy said the European Union plans to fully revive the EU-Pakistan Business Forum, with its next meeting scheduled for the first half of next year. The forum aims to serve as a catalyst for greater business-to-business engagement.
