Marcus Rashford has travelled to Spain to finalise a season-long loan move from Manchester United to Barcelona.

The 27-year-old forward arrived in Barcelona on Sunday night after receiving permission from United to complete the formalities of the transfer. Social media quickly buzzed with images and videos of Rashford landing in Catalonia aboard a private jet.

Negotiations between United and Barcelona have moved quickly in the past week, with a deal in principle agreed over the weekend. The agreement includes an initial 12-month loan with an option for Barcelona to make the move permanent, according to veteran sports journalist Fabrizio Romano.

This transfer marks a significant shift for Rashford, who has been a fixture at United for much of his career, scoring 138 goals in 426 appearances.

However, his future at Old Trafford became uncertain after he was dropped by United head coach Ruben Amorim. Rashford expressed his desire for a new challenge in December, and Barcelona emerged as his preferred destination.

The move will see Rashford embark on his second consecutive loan spell, following a six-month stint with Aston Villa during the latter half of last season.

Rashford is expected to undergo a medical with Barcelona early this week and, if all goes smoothly, he could join the club’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, which begins Thursday.

Should he be part of the tour, Rashford may face his former United teammate, Jesse Lingard, who is now playing for K League side FC Seoul. FC Seoul is scheduled to play Barcelona on 31 July.
