ISLAMABAD:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has secured four out of seven general seats in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Senate elections, according to unofficial and unconfirmed results.
PTI’s Murad Saeed received an unexpected 26 votes, leading the party’s tally. Other PTI winners on general seats include Mirza Afridi, Faisal Javed, and Noorul Haq Qadri, who secured 22, 21, and 21 votes respectively.
Opposition candidates Maulana Attaul Haq Dervish, Talha Mehmood, and Niaz Ahmed also won general seats with 18, 17, and 18 votes respectively.
In the technocrat category, PTI’s Azam Swati and PML-N’s Dilawar Khan emerged victorious, receiving 89 and 54 votes, respectively.
On the reserved seats for women, PTI’s Rubina Naz and PPP’s Rubina Khalid won with 89 and 52 votes. Two votes in this category were rejected during counting.
According to the Election Commission, 25 candidates were in the running for 11 Senate seats—16 for seven general seats, five for two technocrat seats, and four for two women’s seats.
