During the three days of Eidul Fitr, a large number of tourists thronged the scenic hill resort of Murree, popularly known as the “Queen of the Hills,” to enjoy its pleasant weather and picturesque landscapes.
According to official figures, a total of 74,196 vehicles carrying nearly 375,000 visitors entered Murree over the three-day period.
According to Murree District Police Officer Dr Muhammad Raza Tanveer, tourist inflow during Eid remained exemplary, with traffic and security arrangements successfully implemented throughout.
He noted that, compared to the previous year, traffic congestion in Murree decreased by 48.8 per cent. The total number of vehicles staying in the resort during Eid stood at 15,728.
On the first day of Eid, 17,716 vehicles entered Murree, while 10,038 exited, leaving 1,640 vehicles within the city by the end of the day. On the second day, 27,099 vehicles entered and 19,734 departed, with 5,429 vehicles remaining in the city. On the third day, 29,588 vehicles arrived and 26,964 left, while a record 8,659 vehicles were present in Murree city by midnight.
Dr Tanveer further stated that no incidents of tourists being stranded or prolonged traffic jams were reported. A total of 882 traffic challans were issued for violations of traffic regulations.
