ISLAMABAD:
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries and Production Haroon Akhtar Khan held a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Navoiy Region Governor Normat Tursunov and his delegation to discuss avenues for strengthening cooperation in trade, industry, and investment.
Both sides focused on a wide range of areas of mutual interest aimed at enhancing bilateral economic engagements. The Uzbek side proposed export of live animals from Pakistan to Uzbekistan, which was discussed in detail. Both parties also agreed to promote cooperation in pharmaceuticals, leather, and other key sectors.
Emphasis was laid on deepening business-to-business (B2B) linkages, enhancing meat exports, and strengthening overall bilateral relations in line with Pakistan’s vision of expanding regional trade and economic connectivity.
Haroon Akhtar informed the delegation that he would soon lead a high-level delegation to Uzbekistan to further explore opportunities for collaboration and investment. At the conclusion, both sides conveyed their best wishes for continued prosperity of their people and leadership.
The Uzbek delegation included Ambassador to Pakistan Alisher Tukhtaev, Deputy Governor Elbek Gaffarov, and Ravshan Jumanov from the Embassy of Uzbekistan. From the Pakistani side, Secretary Industries and Production and Food Security Saif Anjum, Additional Secretary Asif Saeed Lughmani, Joint Secretary Freedoon Akram Sheikh and other senior officials attended the meeting.
