Ali Pervaiz Malik thanks Kuwait for facilitating vessel Khairpur carrying diesel and jet fuel
Kuwait and Pakistan on Tuesday discussed the possibility of the former establishing strategic storage facilities in the country, according to state-run Radio Pakistan.
It said that Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik held a meeting with Kuwait’s Ambassador to Pakistan Nassar Abdulrahman Almutairi in Islamabad and discussed cooperation and joint projects in the refining sector.
According to the post on X by the Petroleum Division, the minister thanked Kuwait for the “timely facilitation” of the vessel Khairpur, which arrived in Pakistan carrying 45,000 tonnes of diesel and 10,000 tonnes of jet fuel “during a challenging period”.

Radio Pakistan said the delivery of fuel was made possible through special facilitation following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
The Kuwaiti ambassador appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for peace amid the conflict between the United States and Iran, encouraging the government to continue its role in regional peace.
Malik said Pakistan remained committed to peace and stability.

Last month, Kuwait extended its oil credit facility to Pakistan for an unprecedented two years, marking a deepening of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector.
In March, Kuwait agreed to use Pakistani ships for diesel and jet fuel supply after Iran assured Pakistan of safe passage for 20 oil cargoes.
Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, through an agreement with Pakistan State Oil, regularly shipped oil to Pakistan. However, shipments came to a halt after Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz following the beginning of the war with the United States and Israel.
