Actor says ‘this is wrong on so many levels’, urges public to prioritise animal welfare
Actor Zara Noor Abbas took to her Instagram story to voice concern over the mistreatment of goats, who are being overfed to appear bigger ahead of Eidul Azha. Zara shed light on the issue, sharing a video from a goat market that showed workers allegedly forcing goats to eat excessively and keeping them in poor conditions.
The actor shared a message on her Instagram story, writing, “This is wrong on so many levels. Please stop this treatment if you see this and tell others to do so too. Please make this Qurbani [sacrifice] count instead of just doing it for the sake of religion.”
Many agreed with Zara’s message, saying that animal cruelty is becoming increasingly normalised in society.
One user pointed out that while feeding and preparing animals properly requires effort, such practices are often carried out to make goats appear larger so they may be sold at higher prices.
Zara’s message serves as a reminder for those planning to undertake sacrifice this Eidul Azha to prioritise compassion, responsibility, and the ethical treatment of animals.
