Actor Alizeh Shah sparked conversation on social media after she took to her Instagram story to call out how independent women are perceived, writing that “to sick minds, independent women appear to be promiscuous.”

Alizeh has frequently been subject to harassment and online bullying since her rise to fame. In April, she also revealed that she had been harassed by a fellow co-actor while filming a project. The actor has also occasionally stepped away from social media, returning with messages reflecting on her growing faith and response to online judgement.

Following her Instagram story, Alizeh also engaged with model Saheefa Jabbar Khattak’s post, leaving a supportive comment praising her confidence.

Khattak has also faced online criticism due to her fashion choices and, more recently, a pixie haircut. However, the model has responded by asserting her right to self-expression

Alizeh’s post and show of support for Khattak appear to be part of a broader pattern of the actor using her platform to push back against scrutiny that women in Pakistan’s entertainment industry face. Meanwhile, she continues to channel her energy into her craft, starring in Khwaab Merey this year alongside actor Azfar Rehman.
