LAHORE:
The Punjab Information Technology Board has launched a new facility for marriage registration and issuance of marriage certificates at 15 e-service centres across Punjab to simplify the process for citizens.
Officials said the initiative would enable citizens to register marriages and obtain certificates in a fast, secure and convenient manner without complicated procedures. The centres will remain operational from 9am to 5pm. Official sources said citizens can obtain information through the Punjab e-Khidmat Portal or by contacting helpline.
Officials said every married couple is legally required to register their marriage with the relevant Union Council.
Required documents for obtaining a marriage certificate or Nikah Nama include copies of the identity cards of the bride and groom, copies of their parents’ identity cards and copies of the witnesses’ identity cards.
Either the bride or groom can visit the Union Council for registration, where officials verify the submitted documents before entering the Nikah Nama into the system.
