LAHORE:
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that organising a series of single-country “Made-in-Pakistan” expos across different regions of the world can play a vital role in promoting the country’s products in global markets besides enhancing their export potential.
Talking to a delegation of furniture manufacturers on Friday, led by Pakistan Furniture Council CEO Mian Kashif Ashfaq, the governor stressed that Pakistan possessed immense industrial and creative potential, particularly in the furniture sector, which was capable of earning foreign exchange.
He said Pakistani furniture products were gaining recognition due to their quality craftsmanship, elegant designs and use of durable materials. He added that the local furniture industry had the potential to successfully compete in international markets if provided with proper marketing opportunities, modern technology and policy support.
Khan underlined the need for public-private partnership to strengthen industrial growth and encourage exports. He said organising exclusive “Made-in-Pakistan” exhibitions in various countries would help introduce high-quality Pakistani products, especially furniture, handicrafts and home decor items to foreign buyers and investors.
He appreciated efforts of the Pakistan Furniture Council to promote the industry through exhibitions, training programmes and awareness initiatives. He assured the delegation of his full support for measures aimed at increasing exports and facilitating local manufacturers.
Speaking on the occasion, Mian Kashif Ashfaq said the furniture industry was contributing significantly to the national economy and providing employment opportunities to thousands of skilled workers and artisans across the country.
