Nawaz hopes AJK leaders will work together for development, while he and Shehbaz plan a visit soon

MUZAFFARABAD:
Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on Friday telephoned newly elected Azad Jammu and Kashmir AJK President Dr Muhammad Najeeb Naqi Khan and congratulated him on assuming office, saying his election was a “good omen” for the region.
Nawaz expressed hope that the AJK leadership would work as a team for the development of the region and welfare of its people.

He also announced that he would soon visit AJK along with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review the situation and assess progress on commitments made to the people of AJK.
President Najeeb Naqi thanked Nawaz for the call and assured him that the AJK government would leave no stone unturned to fulfil its commitments in line with his vision and guidance.
Dr Naqi was elected AJK president on Thursday, securing 32 votes against 13 received by PPP candidate Chaudhry Latif Akbar. He took the oath of office the same day, with AJK Supreme Court Chief Justice Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan administering the oath at the Presidency.
